University of San Carlos Cebu wins EU Whiz 2024
Organized by the Delegation of the European Union (EU) to the Philippines, EU Whiz 2024 brought together some of the country's brightest students in a test of knowledge about the EU’s history, institutions, and its 60-year partnership with the Philippines.
University of San Carlos with team members John Michael Paman, Cearlovey Granali, and Eriko Angelo De Castro, took home the top prize after a hard-fought contest that tested their mastery of EU-related topics.
The team from Ateneo de Manila University, with team members Juan Egie Follero, Ardy Emmanuel Tagle, and Daniel Christopher Galuna, secured the 1st Runner-Up position, while Ateneo de Davao University with team members French Bandong, Jhoanna Cayanan, and Kim Generalao, placed as the 2nd Runner-Up.
EU Ambassador to the Philippines Massimo Santoro commended the participants for their outstanding performance, stating:
"I know the different elimination rounds have been very tough and I am really impressed by the excellent performance of all the teams. Binabati ko kayong lahat!."
“You have a stake in the development of the relations between the EU and the Philippines. You are the future opinion-makers and decision leaders. I hope that you all enjoyed this EU Whiz competition and learned from the experience. I encourage you to share your growing knowledge of international and foreign relations, and carry on the common values that we share with the Philippines said Ambassador Santoro.
The Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines organized EU Whiz 2024 as part of the commemoration of the 60th anniversary of EU-Philippines diplomatic relations. Thirty-two Philippine universities participated in EU Whiz 2024, through three elimination rounds.
