Queen’s hit musical 'WE WILL ROCK YOU' opens in Manila this October

GMG Productions is thrilled to announce the cast of their brand new production making its global premiere in Manila this October. 

“The production has assembled a new generation of performers to step into these incredible roles,” shares Carlos Candal GMG Productions CEO and We Will Rock You World tour co-producer. “We can’t wait for them to bring new energy and a fresh take on these characters and their songs - iconic songs known the world over, and we’re confident their talent will deliver in a big way.” 

The season begins October 27 until November 20, 2022.

The Principal cast of the brand-new World Tour consists of Nicolette Fernandes (Scaramouche), Stuart Brown (Galileo), Londiwe Dhlomo (Killer Queen), Craig Urbani (Khashoggi), Tiaan Rautenbach (Buddy), Richard Gau (Brit), and Danelle Cronje (Oz).  

 

Joining the production as part of the ensemble will be Kenneth Meyer, Allen Chambers, Siya Makakane, Nadine Grobbelaar, Ashleigh Butcher, Robyn Ivey, Tannah Levick, Tania Mteto, Adrienne Theron, Claire Boswell, Nathan Muller, Zolani Treasure Star Shangase, Tshepo Ncokoane, Michael Fullard, Thami Njoko, Sibusiso Mxosana, Kent Jeycocke, Dirk Joubert, Alexandra Girad and Hannah Marshall.  

We Will Rock You follows two revolutionaries as they try to save rock music in a post-apocalyptic world. In an age where algorithms predict our every preference, We Will Rock You is a musical for our time: a fist-pumping, foot-stomping anthem to individuality. 

This new rock-powered production features 24 of Queen’s biggest hits, including Killer Queen, Under Pressure, We Are the Champions, Radio Ga Ga, I Want to Break Free, Don’t Stop Me Now Bohemian Rhapsody, Another One Bites the Dust and, of course, We Will Rock You. With a futuristic-styled set by Tom Rogers, video backdropby  Douglas O’Connel and fabulous new costumes from Sarah Mercade. 

Rehearsals for this brand new production are underway – at the helm of the show’s Creative Team is one of the UK’s leading creatives, Tony-Nominated Nick Winston.

“It’s been a pleasure to be surrounded by such a collaborative team and company. It’s been fun to create the aesthetics with Tom, Sarah and Doug and I’m looking forward to sharing our new vision of this musical with the world,” shares Winston, who will take on the role as the director and choreographer.

 

Completing the rest of the creative team are Mark Crossland (Musical Supervisor), Ryan Lee Seager (Associate Director), Tom Rogers (Set Designer), Douglas O’Connell (Video Designer), Ben Harrison (Sound Designer), Sarah Mercade (Costume Designer) and Megan Rarity (Costume Supervisor).

We Will Rock You is produced by Selladoor Worldwide, Carlos Candal, Gavin Kalin Productions, Limelight Productions and ShowTime Management South Africa. 

The Manila season is supported by BPI, Alveo Land, Ayala Malls and Seda Hotels.
