People In Need celebrates its 5th anniversary in the Philippines
People in Need (PIN) started its operations in the Philippines in 2013, providing emergency relief to the communities affected by super-Typhoon Yolanda.
Five years after, the Czech NGO continues to operate in the country with an evolved mandate covering a broad range of sectors, such as sustainable livelihoods, market inclusion, renewable energy, disaster resilience, land rights, peace building and social cohesion.
On the 28th of November, 2018, a photo exhibition has been organized to celebrate the 5th Anniversary of PIN. It welcomed the diplomatic community and the development partners at the reception hall in the residence of Czech Ambassador Jaroslav Olša Jr.
It displayed the milestones in the work of the NGO, which determinedly commits for the realization of the four pillars of its work: saving lives and dignity, ensuring equal opportunities, empowering people and supporting sustainable living. “It is with grateful heart that we appreciate the unwavering dedication of People in Need and the people behind it, who concertedly work in strengthening the development ties of the Czech Republic and the Philippines.

Indeed, their mission is a reflection of our shared commitment for equality in the community. With that, we are extremely thankful,” says Czech Ambassador Olša as he welcomes the guests in his home.
Emergency preparedness, social inclusion and community-driven development are key objectives of PIN intervention in vulnerable areas. In particular, local leaders and youth are actively engaged in initiatives aimed at establishing a long-lasting culture of peace, respect and inclusion.
Claudia Oriolo, Country Director of People in Need, further states that: “the needs of local communities have always been at the heart of People in Need. Thanks to the precious support of Filipino people and institutions, we express our renewed commitment to further support sustainable development in the country”.
